The Bruins: Missing the Bruins Identity

After what’s been a long, long 2024–2025 hockey season for this city, the departure of Marchand was the cherry on top—cementing the realization that this Bruins locker room is composed of unorthodox personalities. Following the recent situation above, it’s still fair to deny any assumption that Swayman’s presence is a source of annoyance for his teammates, but it’s equally fair to question the meshing of personalities after so much roster turnover.

In past years of Bruins hockey, any sign of poor performance was immediately met with honest effort from players to maintain a positive locker room outlook. This season, especially now as Pastrnak and McAvoy will need time to step into leadership roles, player reactions seem far too blunt about how bad things are—and not nearly accountable or close enough to one another.

You expect a mix of emotions from whoever you acquired at the trade deadline, but players like Zadorov and Lindholm exemplify individuals who are simply not fitting in personality-wise, in addition to their on-ice fit. Of course, frustration has existed during losing stretches before in this organization, but the brutal honesty now—compared to previous locker rooms—is bordering on disrespect and negligence.

  2. I know Sweeney admitted he made bad moves and claims he will make better ones in the future. But that doesn’t mean he will. It just means he’ll try.

Maybe he just doesn’t have it anymore.
