Josh McDaniels Might Be a Better Fit Than We Even Think

At first, this idea might be met with hesitancy, but people need to take a step back for a little bit here. For an organization to have long-term success, they have to retain as many good coaches as they have season to season, so this hire would make sense for a few reasons…

McDaniels would be a long-term “signing”: What never gets talked about enough: Dynasties like the Chiefs currently and the Patriots of old keep their coaches around for as long as they can. Familiarity will be the key factor once we get back to a successful season.

McDaniels would be another head coach for the offense: With a unit on defense that’s in need of coaching, Mike Vrabel would be hugely benefited by having McDaniels do the head coaching for the offense. This isn’t to say Vrabel doesn’t have a knack for that side of the ball, but with a roster like this, no head coach would mind essentially a second head coach to help out.

McDaniels has done it with a rookie QB here before: McDaniels got Mac Jones, and a core of receivers that frustratingly looks the same as the current one, to the playoffs. If McDaniels is able to work with a QB’s preferences, as he has been praised to do before, he can take a hopefully upgraded unit to where they need to be.

Maybe other candidates have these secondary elements, but they will likely be stripped away by another team if they have success with Maye and the offense…
