Red Sox’ Needs Wishlist Is Mostly Incomplete

The obsession over SP Crochet’s acquisition has quickly worn off, and it’s because this team has a lot to prove with its roster. This lineup and the back half of the rotation are not yet built to compete.

Impactful RH hitter(s): Players like Duran and Rafaela are due to have some type of regression at some point, and this lineup needs to stay more consistent to secure a solid playoff spot. In addition, Devers needs another bat or two to help him carry a load that has to be as heavy—if not heavier—than last season.

Another big-name starter: This rotation, as constructed, is still relying on evolving pitchers like Bello, Crawford, and Houck to some degree, while Giolito is coming off injury. A Corbin Burnes—or an established name like that—is more than needed for this rotation.

These two areas are moves GM Breslow has to make before spring training gets underway. This team has only pieces of a playoff-caliber roster, and not yet the proper foundation for consistent success.

  1. Idk about that, I think our rotation is good enough to make the playoffs. Have you seen the American League lately??? you could find any random group of 9 people and you’d only be missing the equipment to be an 80 win team in this dogwater conference. Gimmie a couple bats and we’re going to the Fall Classic
