Patriots Must Keep AVP at All Costs

What goes significantly understood about NFL success is the ability to retain familiar team coordinators. This especially applies to developing QBs and is no different for Alex Van Pelt with Drake Maye.

Even with established QBs and other players, aspiring dynasties like the Chiefs currently and previous dynasties like what the Patriots were have always kept relatively the same coaching staff over time. For our own recent history, Mac Jones, although not ultimately talented enough, seemed to be on a decent trajectory until Josh McDaniels left.

This familiarity helps players, young and old, put more work into their own game without having to please a different coordinator’s coaching points. Let Drake Maye continue to work on his own game as we head into the end of this season and the offseason of next.

This is also why, if Mayo ever were to get the boot, you hire an established coach not pushing to call plays…

  1. I mean yeah but if Ben Johnson is there, you take him regardless of the fact he’d call plays over AVP imo

In any other situation tho I do like AVP, definitely the least bad of the new coaches!! Gotta get Maye more coached up!
