Trade Talk Tuesday: Dugger/Bourne

Dugger’s Stats
Bourne’s Stats

Kyle Dugger is a specifically physical safety, and Kendrick Bourne is a possession receiver. You don’t need more of the same with Julius Peppers behind Dugger, and you also have four other Kendrick Bournes on your WR depth chart.

Patriots get: WR DK Metcalf
Seahawks get: S Kyle Dugger, WR Kendrick Bourne, and a 2024 third-round pick

Again, Dugger is a great fit for a defensive unit seeking toughness all around, and Bourne is nice for “cool” vibes, but nothing compares to the difference DK Metcalf would make for this offense—and therefore this team.

DK Metcalf not only fits the bill of today’s modern-day #1 or #2 NFL receiver, but he fits the type of receiver QB Drake Maye would thrive throwing to. Maye has been repeatedly known so far as a QB willing to make any throw if he feels like his receiver has a 50/50 chance, and Metcalf can obviously bring that and more.

You get a receiver that you haven’t had in, honestly, 7 years or more. You completely set up the typical young QB with a superstar WR takeover. You already have Peppers to replace Dugger, and now the defense should spend less time on the field. Opposing defenses will have to come a long way from sitting in the box daring us to throw to the Bournes and Thorntons of the world.

Response

  1. Pats would do that yesterday. Hawks wouldnt do that unless we sent bombs to their HQ and said “accept in 1 second or we bring the BOOOOOOMMMM!!!!”
