Drake Maye: Professional

Drake Maye’s ability in the media room has been just as encouraging as his play on the field. He’s talking about any and all team situations in a positively accountable light, and in a “we,” not “me,” manner.

In the tweet above, he’s seen and heard talking about Ja’Lynn Polk in a light that, although us disgruntled fans don’t want to hear, is constructive and realistic. The reality is that Polk still has good attributes, and as a receiver coming up with Maye, there’s a chance at real chemistry there to use Polk’s jump-ball skillset.

There have been other examples of this, and Maye will seemingly continue to speak to the media in a manner that’s free from the surrounding noise. Yes, you can point to Mac Jones before and say that he did that early on too, but something feels different about Maye’s makeup, and that’s what I’m trying to emphasize.

He’s getting to the interactive leadership mindset very fast for a rookie…

  1. It won’t matter if Mayo and Co. stay, or a similarly poor cabinet replaces them.

Drake looks fine. Just like with most high level QB prospects ever, if he gets good coaching he’ll be in January every season. If he doesn’t, none of this will matter.

    But yeah, good signs.
