The Reality of the 2024–2025 Celtics

What a season it was last year, but we all move on, as any winning city should, and look forward to repeating the successes of the past. This 2024–2025 look of the Boston Celtics will be quite similar…

Celtics 2024–2025 Regular Season Record: 60-22

MVP: Jayson Tatum

Most Improved: Jayson Tatum

Moment of Adversity: Jaylen Brown Injury

I chuckled to myself as I wrote the last variable out, as it looks like I’m the biggest Tatum fan and, well, a Tatum-over-Brown fan, but this is genuinely how I see this playing out. There is no way these Celtics, who because of their effort have not faced much unfortunate adversity, will not get stricken with at least SOMETHING.

Jayson Tatum winning the past title was, in a weird way, the equivalent of a player in a long scoring drought: you see it go in and reality starts giving you makes. That’s also why I stand by him not only being the MVP of the team, but the most improved player in terms of his shot, court vision, and handling.

I also want to point out that this is not just a fan being a fan; I truly believe this roster paired with the coach is as close to a perfect match as you can dream of. Joe Mazzulla will have more in his bag to get any and all players to continuously buy in.

The injury will hit sometime in the season, opinions will be taken, the team’s confidence will shake back and forth, but the record will still hold up to show this team has what it takes for playoff success. I hope whatever adversity it is, that it strikes soon enough so we are ready for the real games…

As with the Bruins layout, there will be no playoff forecast yet, but I’ll leave that up to the excited thoughts of you fellow fans at home…

Predicting an injury for a player with minimal injury history is odd. I want to have it put down that I think that is a horrible take and it won’t happen. I’ll come back to this when the season is over.
