From what we continue to hear from the Red Sox front office, we should be a team that wants to win again. Now, a win is a win when it comes to these comments, but thinking the future is thrown away by trying to win in an upcoming year is odd.
Is it an attempt to make the fanbase fear investment so they can hold on to Henry’s money, or does Breslow actually believe this? The new GM loves to toss word salad in his interviews so far in his tenure.
Nevertheless, Breslow is a smart man, and we’ll give him a shot—but the terminology needs to change in this organization. The dial should always be fixed on the current year ahead, and that can include the following season as well.
We are a big-market team. We spend for the present, and we spend for the future. We can cover both situations—and we’d better have an expensive plan for both.
