The Boston Red Sox… in Name Only?

Another MLB season in the gutter for the Red Sox since 2018. This simply comes down to two questions: Will Henry be willing to invest, and is Breslow the one to make big decisions if we are investing?

It’s been widespread on various airwaves, but to reiterate: We are the Boston Red Sox. We should not be in constant shrug mode like any other fanbase, and John Henry should remember the culture he invested in. Regardless of the situation, it’s hard not to look back—once again, after our elimination—and note that a good chunk of the young players in the system were brought up by former GM Chaim Bloom.

If we are spending actual money this offseason, then should an inexperienced GM like Breslow really fit the bill? If half the players fans are excited about came from Chaim Bloom, what exactly are we doing here? In hindsight, Breslow’s hiring seemed to indicate the sort of path this would be—but hopefully, he can surprise us…
