Eliot Wolf: “Last season, ultimately the roster was on me. We were 4-13. Just didn’t get enough done.”

Says the free agency class “didn’t meet expectations” and they were expecting more of an impact from the draft class.

After another misguided season, we finally got to hear from GM Eliot Wolf again. Wolf brought more of the head-scratching Patriot logic to the podium on Wednesday.

Were we supposed to believe a free agent class of guys like QB Jacoby Brissett and OL Chukwuma Okorafor were specifically going to bring the team to a winning record? Were the draft picks besides Drake Maye expected to contribute right away in an offense that’s starved for threats?

The belief in, especially, the free agency side but also the 2024 draft is alarming from a talent evaluation and team-building standpoint. You cannot bank on a cheap free agency class and a draft filling needs in the later rounds.
