The Bruins fell 4-3 to the Golden Knights in the last game before the Four Nations break, and emotions didn’t get any lighter for us fans in this one. The game-winning goal came from an area that has unfortunately been all too easy for opponents to exploit.
As you can see above, Tomas Hertl provides another example of this team giving up goals in the slot—whether at 5v5 or on the penalty kill. This is a true backbreaker when you remember the two-way centers you’re supposed to have, headlined by addition Elias Lindholm. But ultimately, there’s been no defensive energy from our group to limit opponents’ opportunities.
This team will still hang around, mainly because the core of runner-up teams for the relevant playoff spots are middling. However, if you want this team to make the playoffs, the capable defensemen need to get much meaner, and the centers have to play with greater urgency in their own zone.
