These Patriots WRs Need to Be Gone by Next Season

For yet another year, the New England Patriots are getting inconsistent WR play. Let’s start getting better next season by getting rid of the WRs not fit for today’s ideal types of WR.

Kendrick Bourne: Although he is a great impact on team mood, Bourne is not enough of a threat to a defense’s overall coverages. He is a #3–#4 on a great team, and is only getting older.

Kayshon Boutte: Boutte has flashed at times, but his issues with drops and talk off the field do not fit what the Patriots are about. We need less talk at WR and more flash.

Ja’Lynn Polk: Polk has similar issues, and the mental game with him worries me more than the potential talent. He might have a future here, but the potentially toxic mentality mixed with his ceiling not being enough of a game breaker is enough for us to move on.

Roll with Demario Douglas as your one treasure from the past, and start acquiring established talent at WR that threaten a defense’s coverage. Whether that’s a Metcalf or a Higgins, make the move and make this offense fittingly less about talk and more about action.

It’s about time the fringe WR styles we have rolled out are done away with…

  1. So you say get rid of one guy who is cheap depth and veteran leadership, one young guy who has shown flashes, and another rookie who admittedly hasn’t been good but can easily bounce back like countless other rookies have over the course of this league.
