The Red Sox higher-ups obviously have a priority to acquire big-name pitching in the chase for a trophy. In addition to this, veteran players on the team—like Lucas Giolito—need to spread a good message about the direction of the team.
With an unacceptable past few years, especially by management, there’s a chance for free agents to have a sour impression of this big-market team. We’ve seen this happen in other sports as well, so Giolito speaking on our behalf to a pitcher like Max Fried is exactly what we need.
Management and players being aligned on the consistent goal of this city is all we ask for. Breslow and Cora can use their players to start spreading a better message to the outside.
