Patriots’ Offense Is Not Modern

The Patriots’ offense since Tom Brady and Josh McDaniels has been largely outdated and lacks innovation. The lack of motion yet again this year is a big tell of this dynamic.

When motion is used by an offense, it adds another task to the defense’s pre-snap list for sniffing out a play. Defending players need to adjust their positioning and mindset of the play, and that split second could afford an offense a good passing look.

Fans can say it starts with the lack of skill on the offensive unit, and that’s true, but regardless, the offensive unit is far too stationary and too outdated, philosophy-wise.
