The 2024 Patriots Are a Scratch

It takes all of 9 seconds to relay what last night’s Patriots game was: an utter disaster. It was clear that Bentley’s absence created a domino effect on defense, and the offensive line has been the root of the offense’s unproductivity.

There were certainly a lot of times last night when fans were watching and noticing their player vocabulary expand—new or different players in various defensive positions—and that’s what happens when a guy like Bentley goes down. There were also many injury notes during the game, so that obviously didn’t help either.

The offensive protection of Brissett is beyond abysmal. The back and forth about the QB position is a massive distraction from what we really should be saying to Mayo and Wolf. It’s not fair to evaluate any QB on this team at this point. Mike Onwenu is the only player that belongs on a great offensive line, and even he had a bad game last night. The offensive line needs four or five respectable names to walk in the building.

When you check on this team throughout the season, the health of the defensive unit and the ability to upgrade the line are the two tabs to keep an eye on.
