The 2024 Bruins’ Offense

In the midst of all the Swayman drama, let’s take a look at an equally important problem the Bruins have to figure out: the forward lines.

Zacha-Lindholm-Pastrnak

Marchand-Coyle-Geekie

Are these first two lines good enough for a full season and playoff run? This will be the biggest question throughout the upcoming season, assuming Swayman slows down the protest of his value and re-signs.

The other lines should not actually be much of a worry, as players like Justin Brazeau and the development of Providence contributors have become a solid thing to bet on. The future of these first two lines will take this team as far as we want them to go.

The ultimate reality is that we cannot bet that this top six will provide enough firepower for a deep run, and we cannot bet that this top six will stay healthy either. It is fair to question former possibilities like retaining Ullmark, letting Swayman walk, and spending more on offense. Does this team usually play above expectations as part of the Jim Montgomery era? Definitely, and it’s a credit to him and his staff. However, if you and I want their names on a Stanley Cup, we definitely need to monitor these top six forwards…
