Pats’ Opportunity Met with Disappointment

We came into this game knowing the previously mentioned good fortune that Week 1 of the 2024 NFL Season came with. This was a chance to continue to pounce and set an initial standard for this new era of post-Belichick football. Ultimately, we did not just lose today, but we lost in a fashion that left a Mac Jones era aftertaste.

Aside from the external factors outside this game, the Seahawks in the game itself were able to pass on our secondary regardless of us expecting it. On the flip side, our offense ultimately showed itself to be a predictably run-based unit, yet we could not get over the hump of inconsistency with it. On top of all this, we had a blocked field goal late in the game that would have had us up by a crucial six points.

Have these types of opportunities come up in the previous Mac Jones era? Yes. Especially with a Jonathan Jones phantom PI call late in this game as well. After a fun Week 1 win, this game brought this viewer a dose of PTSD and a reality check reminder to ride the wave and remember what the inexperience of a football team could cause.

Moral: Be patient and look for the passing unit to improve.
