At This Point, There Will Always Be a “Chance”

After winning an encouraging Game 3 of the Orioles series in dramatic fashion, the Red Sox dropped a maddening Game 1 against the Yankees. This is exactly what this Red Sox season has been since many of us realized the Sox could be somewhat competitive: encouraging, then maddening.

Alex Cora presented optimism Friday morning on MLB Network, pointing out the upcoming Twins series in Boston as the point where this team could take the reins.

Ultimately, though, haven’t we had enough of the constant optimism ending in a depressing start—or end—to a series? The path is in front of us fans: either watch with conviction that this forever-repeating optimism will finally be proven, or switch up now and call it quits on this season.

The choice probably needs to be made now—for you and for me—as the title-pursuing regular season is quickly coming to a close.
